Shiina vs. Lisa Empty
PostSubject: Shiina vs. Lisa   Shiina vs. Lisa EmptyMon Jun 24, 2019 10:32 am

Shiina's eyes narrowed at that last comment, and she took an abrupt stop from her running. She wasn't someone to get angry at taunts, not at all, and all things considered she was a fairly novice swordswoman yet, but she had been taught by the best teacher she could think of and had her own pride to defend as well. She took the time to catch her breath before speaking, though.

//"I guess I can't blame you for being prideful after last night. I think you'll find the Tsurinai Family is a cut above the rest, though."// Her stamina regained, Shiina walked over to the practice swords and grabbed a slightly longer and thinner one than what was used for kendo practice. If the other Cadets had heard her comment they'd likely have scolded her for her conceitedness; but Shiina had some confidence despite her blunder, and so when she met Lisa's quiet eyes she kept the same casual smile she had.

"...if you're that eager for a beatdown. Just don't waste my time." The Princess scowled and readied her sword in front of her, taking the proper stance of a trained kendo practitioner. However, she paused, as she noticed Shiina kept her own sword sheathed at her waist. "What are you waiting for? Are you scared, or something?"

//"Not at all. Come at me with your best move, I promise I won't disappoint."// The Wild Card didn't budge, keeping her free hand holding the practice sword's sheath while her main hand hovered over its pommel. Lisa and her locked eyes for a few seconds, before the former huffed and nodded.

Shiina vs. Lisa Z3je0SP

"Fine, but I won't carry you to the nurse afterwards!"

The Princess took a running start and easily closed the distance between the two as she raised her sword up to take a quick swing downwards at Shiina's unprotected head. Had she her way, this round would be over in a flash; the Wild Card's stance left the upper part of her body vulnerable as both her arms were positioned at her waist or below. Of course, what Lisa met instead was the broad end of a blade blocking hers in a flash, Shiina herself crouched such that her head was at waist level, knees bent almost expertly to keep her balance perfectly solid as she twisted her body to face right. With a minor but forceful tap, Shiina parried Lisa's sword away and quickly swung downwards to smack the Princess' head with perfect accuracy.

"Kah--!" Lisa couldn't help but yelp as the sudden strike had her reeling back, and she witnessed as Shiina calmly rolled the tip of her sword along its sheath until it slid smoothly inside it with one motion. She was stunned. How couldn't she be? The Wild Card looked absolutely defenseless, but she managed to get a hit on her in one unfair move. She was upset. No, that was too light; she was fuming. She grit her teeth and shook her head, quickly climbing to her feet in frustration. "Best of three! You won't catch me off guard again!" With a renewed will, Lisa held her sword in both hands and resumed her stance, while Shiina's smile widened softly into a satisfied grin.

//"That's better. Round 2, then, Accel!"// Shiina's eyes flashed a bright yellow as she dashed from her starting position; her speed was inhuman, quite clearly so, but Lisa's eyes remained trained on her every move. Instead of waiting in a defensive position, this time the Wild Card's sword met the Princess' directly as she swung towards her waist, but the wooden blades creaked as they slid off each other, Lisa's reflexes being fast enough that she could swing to block the incoming strike. And with a parry, comes a riposte--, a quick thrust as Lisa placed her palm at the end of her sword's pommel and struck it forward on a trajectory to strike Shiina's chest square in the middle. A blur, as the Tsurinai weaved her body under the incoming strike and used the chance to swing at Lisa's feet. Like her previous strike before, it didn't land, as the Princess simply jumped over the practice sword and took the chance to place some distance between them.

"Soul Skills? Isn't that cheating, Tsurinai?!" Lisa barked and dug her feet into the gym floor. She looked to her sides and saw a couple of other students who had previously been training now started to gather a fair distance away, witnessing the fight between the two Cadets. She didn't get to look for long, though, as a sudden shift in the wind alerted her to duck and roll away from an incoming downward swing at her head.

//"So? Don't tell me this is an issue for you. Also, focus."// Shiina grinned and took two steps back, sheathing her weapon and eyeing Lisa intently. The Princess got up off the ground, huffed and snarled.

"Yeah yeah. These extras don't bother me, let's go!" Lisa held her sword low, gripping it with both hands as she pointed it towards the ground. Taking the cue, Shiina advanced, dashing to the Princess' right side before swinging her blade to hit her right arm-- that was, before stopping abruptly with a feint and going for a wide swing at her legs. Lisa remained still as she saw the hit coming, and quickly drew her sword up to intercept Shiina's arc, at which point she swung it forcefully against the Wild Card's legs, knocking her onto the ground with a thud. Lisa smirked lightly as the small crowd gathering around them let out a few 'oohs' and 'aahs' at her display, though a couple did wince and riled for Shiina to get back up.

//"I knew you could keep up with it. The ability to change my perception of time and act faster accordingly, that's my soul's power."// Lisa didn't seem to care much, but she did raise an eyebrow as Shiina got up onto her feet with a spring in her step. Despite having lost the second round, the Wild Card didn't seem too angry or displeased. //"Your Kendo stances are the same, right?"// Though that, did indeed shock her.

"...hassou." Lisa raised her blade, holding it up to her right side as she stared Shiina down wordlessly. That gaze told her enough; she was right, and they were both making use of their souls' intrinsic abilities. Lisa's ceaseless training for perfection and Shiina's desire to alter time itself to her whims.

//"...Accel!"// Another burst of yellow, this time as Shiina took her blade and dug her feet into the ground, solidifying her defensive stance against the offensive kamae. Lisa took the cue, jumping forward and planting her foot on the ground before swinging down hard to meet the broad of Shiina's blade. The Princess twisted her sword, breaking contact in order to swing it at the incoming swipe from the left, a blur to the untrained eye of the other gymgoers, but as the successful parry finished she found her own immediate thrust being led astray by an upwards swipe, leaving her torso exposed. Lisa twisted her body right, narrowly evading a forceful, graceless thrust at her stomach, and so the two remained for several seconds. The crowd around them began to grow little by little, watching as the two of them darted around the little makeshift arena they had made for themselves. Shiina moved as an impressive blur despite the plain daytime outside, and even so Lisa's eyes kept up with her speed, and most importantly, her strikes matched the Wild Card's speed through sheer skill.

The Princess had trained her whole life to become perfect. She wasn't at the pinnacle of swordsmanship, but she was damn well proud of it, and the skill she was displaying left the students in awe. Similarly, the Wild Card's own soul allowed her to keep up with such an expert swordsman, and kept her on her toes as the clacks of wood against wood echoed through the gym.

The two had stopped their exchange at this point, letting their minds focus on the fight to the point that Lisa didn't notice the grin forming on her lips. As she ducked and rolled under an incoming swing, as she narrowly missed the thrust at Shiina's neck, as the Wild Card seemingly flew above her but she managed to track her down, and as Lisa turned around to thrust her blade right at Shiina's chest, she found the Wild Card's practice sword heading for her neck.

The two stopped centimeters away from hitting their targets. Shiina's sword was held up to Lisa's neck, and Lisa's sword was right above Shiina's heart. They were identically close to winning, their swords the exact same distance from each other's bodies as they stopped, heaving and sweating after the fight. Most importantly, both grinned as the adrenaline ran its course.

"...tied." Lisa, somewhat reluctantly, sputtered out before withdrawing her blade.

//"Indeed..."// Shiina heaved a heavy sigh as she did the same.
