Heretic Threads And Plans

Albrecht to discuss with Mother Superior and Jorge about the rumors of a Heretic in the air. Going around purging Persona Users. They have some reason to believe it may be of some interest to them, especially with a moniker they identify as. Also talk about the recent rumors of a prisoner convoy that was attacked and prisoner got mindwiped, wants them to learn more.

Identify who Heretic is and who he is working under, especially if at all working for the Vatican. Jorge and Sylvania believe it's a competing Church trying to frame them, need to find out.

Beginning to note less and less followers. Greg was able to notice they're all beginning to converge elsewhere in Sunlake Palms. But it's all hush-hush, though one have mentioned someone who have heard the words of an angel granting them powers and acting under the word of God. There'll be a gathering at a construction site that hasn't had much work for a while.

Heretic will appear with other goons to talk with the people. Albrecht will need to infiltrate, other Church individuals will assist. Maria will assist as a tension. She too will want to see what Heretic is about, but she will be remarkably hindered from the earlier ordeal.

The trip towards the office wouldn't be difficult at all. After all, the Church was more or less his home in this City. Through the winding hallways and up the stairs, it would lead him to the cathedral's offices. It was similar to one you'd find in a bureaucratic setting, but with people in religious vesture assigned in their given task in their given offices. The secretary was able to direct the Knight towards his destination, in the farthest room further inside. A pair of mahogany doors would present themselves to him when he finally arrived. If he knocked, he would get a "C'mon in" commanding him.


The sight of blue would greet him. It was a remarkably larger room than one might expect for an office. Pillars kept the ceiling up as the soft sunlight emanated through the stained glass windows. In the very back was a desk occupied by the one and only Sylvania Nikolaev, the matriarch of the Black Scriptures. And at her side was Father Giorgio Fallaci, who stood near the desk with a friendly affable smile.

The blonde woman tented her fingers in front of her and leaned forward with elbows on the desk's surface. "Two days ago you were pursuing a pair of Psyche-Terrorists, were you not? Would you kindly give us your report? There's a matter of interest we wish to bring up with you that may be of some relation."

Whatever Albrecht Frost was doing inside the Church, it was to be continued at a later time. One of the many sisters scurrying about inside finally reached for his attention. This time, perhaps for the first time, he was called upon to the cathedral's offices. Out of the several administrative figures in this House of God, the one that called upon him had to be the Mother Superior. It was not a mission as a Cadet, as the German could tell. But one that called upon his faith, or otherwise the Mother Superior wouldn't be calling upon him.

Sister Abigail tended to her task much more respectfully to him than other brothers and sisters of this holy house would've seen for themselves.

A facsimile of a smile graced her features at his report. She listened and observed the Knight as he relayed all the information at his disposal. Jorge seemed to raise an eyebrow as well at the news. There had to be a punchline somewhere, but it wasn't going to be mentioned by either of them. The veteran accepted Sylvania's nod to respond. Before doing so, he handed a copy of the local newspaper to Albrecht. It was one with the big bold lettering, Prison Convoy Attacked! and an image of a vacant Martha being led away by guards. "You catch on quickly, Brother. It's exactly that we're concerned about. I'm sure you heard of the rumors of a prison transport van experiencing an attack last night. Your mark is still alive, yet remains non-responsive. Brain dead, as the medical examiners reported. I daresay he won't be any danger to anyone for a long time. But the real meat of the matter lies on who did this to him."

"This handiwork seems to be just in line with the one they call the 'Heretic'. Target a Persona-User and erase their complete sentience and consciousness. It's not a bad way to ensure you neutralize your target, but a cruel one to be sure." The Mother Superior remarked passively as she leaned back in her chair. Though she seemed to be taking an interest in the practice with her eyes considering the implications. However, the pensive look had a flash of malice. It was one full of loathing and even annoyance. "But lately our community managers are having a harder time keeping attendees for our daily services. We managed to force a follower to admit it was because this 'Heretic'... continues to represent our Lord's will."

"I like to think we should've just invested in cushioned pews or maybe add a bit of color to the chapel to look less a boring preaching hall. Then maybe attendance wouldn't be such an issue." Jorge chuckled to himself. Though cut himself short as the Mother Superior gave a pointed glare at him. He sighed, muttering under his breath about some non-sense of sticks and asses. But he continued, nevertheless. "We need to find out of his origins. Because all of these claims could end up harming our relationship with the Queen as we know it if this guy has any connection back to the Vatican. We found a place where there'll be another of his gatherings. Infiltrate it and report back to us what you found out. We need to know if he's affiliated at all with any congregation. If you have the opportunity, eliminate the blasphemer. But don't harm the civilians, it'll look bad on us all the same. So, do you accept?"

Arrive with some of the disguised church people. Some approaching the inside. Heretic won't arrive. But Albrecht can go around talk to people about him. Then, Heretic will finally appear.

>Enthusiastic supporter. Was accosted by Psyche-Terrorists. Cadets couldn't do much about it. Believes there's too much about the Government that made him lose his faith in it. Even questions if the Queen is the one who actually saved the City. Heard about Heretic over the grapevine. Even followed all of his exploits. Even psyche-Terrorists he was accosted by, Heretic put them down. Farmer. Will remark he's got skills, skills that you might find from someone who's dealt persona users before or even someone from the government. Will even say Heretic's meetings always has a show of his power to everyone here, always gets people wanting to join.

>Hesitant supporter. Doesn't want to be here, but has misgivings. Especially after the rumors of House of Cards and Vista Square. And what happened with the hi-jacking. Wants to hear what Heretic is all about. Though doesn't quite like the look of his followers. They're too creepy with their masks. Remarks they're almost cult-ish to his tastes. Hopes it's probably just from the outside. Also remarks his followers are somehow capable of fighting toe-to-toe with Psyche-Terrorists a bit. Office Dude.

>Neutral. The kind of guy who wants to see things from everywhere. A little excited of this secretive, but illegal meeting. But wants to know what his shtick and arguments are. He knows some shitty Psyche-Terrorists have been dealt with, and even demons. A little skeptical about him being some kind of emissary from God. Would remark the Church in Sunlake Palms wouldn't like it. Wonders if God actually hates Persona-Users, probably wouldn't blame him because of the Divide. It all started because of that one Persona User. Student.

Heretic will appear to the crowd. Giving a speech. Thanks them for coming. Asks them a question if they lost anything valuable to them in their lives. Yes, of course they have if you live in this city. We live with weakness and being downtrodden by the powers above us. We have no choice, but to believe in the government that claim to protect us.

But no more. It is time to make them answer for their corruption and treachery. This entire madness started with the Psyche-Terrorists, Persona-Users and their ilk. No more tyranny under these Persona-Users in their petty squabble with one another for power and us as the "acceptable collateral damage". It is time to make them fear us and know we won't take this down. And offers a solution, him.

Will show by taking a Cadet. Everyone will be entranced.  Albrecht may take a QAS of whether to save him or not.

Courage rank 3 required if do so. He may talk into the radio to initiate crackdown. Church people will break in. Chaos ensues with Church fighting against the Heretic groupies.

Heretic will leave. But leaves behind his higher goon to fight with Albrecht. Goon may try to escape once health is down to 1/4.

If he lets Heretic wipe him, it happens. The braindead Cadet is taken away. Heretic will conclude the meeting and all will come to join him. Like as if they were entranced by his voice. Radio will be phoned in to follow him. That's a real voice of God will be remarked. Albrecht and the executors follow Heretic to another part of the streets. They'll notice they're being followed, a fight breaks out.

Some of the Executors are knocked out, Heretic escapes.


Heretic voices his displeasure and comments the goon should be more careful next time.
Will sic the entire crowd on Albrecht. However, a voice will scream out to Albrecht to get down. Flashbang grenades are thrown in, disorienting the normies. However, there will now be a melee between the Heretic group vs the Church. Albrecht faces off against the higher goon anyway. Heretic leaves.

When the sun set, it seemed like to be another night for the peaceful streets of Sunlake Palms. But in the deeper and desolate underbelly of the district, people were shifting their feet to a single destination. They were all drawn there, like moths to a fire. Each one came from their abode for an answer. It was only a matter of time now when that answer would come. But the real question was, would they be receptive of it?

With the address Albrecht was given, he would find himself in several charted plots of land that was filled with construction materials. All of them were marked for future developments for residency as would the Sunlake Palms endeavor in. Yet, they were all abandoned for this night as their shifts haven't come in yet. The entire place was empty, especially when the area bordered some residences and neighborhoods that kept to themselves in the night. It would feel almost entirely desolate, had it not been for the small trickle of people wandering the streets and all evidently heading to the same place.

Before the Cadet could continue onward, would feel a firm hand on his shoulder and a familiar voice quietly talking to him. That familiar voice would jab a thumb towards the alley.

"Blonde, huh? Nice hue, makes you look like a tougher dude. Should've went with the piercings too, but I guess there's still the whole 'the body is a temple' kind of thing, eh?" Gregory remarked as he began to lead Albrecht away from the street and into the opening. It led into an alleyway with closed trash cans and empty cardboard boxes to the side. But it soon opened up to another clearing where he'd see the familiar sight of agents in their dark religious attire with a hood covering their features and a van. The large group appeared to be visibly unarmed, but appeared ready for what will come up next. "This'll be our team. We'll be backing you up if anything goes wrong or on new orders from the van, Father Jorge probably said the same before. So, here. Take this. We'll be able to talk to each other through it. Just press on it when you need to tell us something."

He handed over what looked like an earbud that could easily be placed inside the ear without looking too conspicuous. When the Knight put it on, he would begin to hear a familiar voice buzz through it. "One, two, three. Can you hea-- m--? Damn this-- Ah, there! Equipment's been gathering dust since the Divide, but I think it's going to work... Can you all hear me?"

"Transparently, Father. Are we still having Brother Frost on point while over-watching his position?" The Agent asked through his own bud nestling in his ear.

"Exactly what the briefing said, Greg. We don't know how many of these people are in there and how many combat-able goons this Heretic has if he's got any. We don't want to walk away from this as a bloodbath. Keep that chaos contained so the civvies don't get hurt. Focus on getting that information from this guy, no need to go all crusading-happy for this one." The priest replied as he began to see through the visual display inside the van. While the agents and Albrecht couldn't see, they could hear the sound of a cigarette being lit by a zippo lighter and a relaxing puff. "Frost ask some of these attendees what this Heretic guy is all about when you get there and see if you can get why they attract him. What boxes he's ticking to get them coming for him. We can start when you're ready. If you got any questions, you can start."

Before allowing Albrecht to ask any that he had, the redhead broached upon a new topic. "I got one, where's Sister Woodsworth? Shouldn't she be here?"


There was a momentary pause and the sound of something moving around followed by a displeased grunt. "She's taking this one off, my orders. Trip to Domiona was more than she bargained for. And besides, Andraste is too big to lug around stealthily. It's better to have her warm the bench this time around."

The van began to start up as some of the agents began to file in. It was Albrecht's cue to return where he was from and continue the task. And if he did, the Knight would still find it easy to follow the path as there were intermittent amounts of people coming from the streets as if looking for a place. Eventually he'd chance upon that same abandoned building that was described to him. It was incomplete just like many of the buildings around and normally wouldn't attract anyone with that Keep Out sign. Yet, people still came through without much of a resistance. Entering, Albrecht would find the empty-looking unfinished building beginning to be filled with people of all sorts. Because of its incomplete nature, it was a wide clearing inside with a dirt ground clearly showing even the floor plans haven't even reached completion. But that certainly didn't deter any from standing around and beginning to discuss among each other as they waited for the show to start. As they did, a solitary man with a skull mask kept a watchful eye across the area. While the audience talked among each other, it was a good opportunity to gauge the situation...

"Ha. Right? Capeshit can be pretty neat. But the ones actually hitting the pavement under the shadows are more interesting, ya know? Doing what's right, even when the law doesn't agree with ya? Shivers the spine, man. Anyway, kinda weird you'd be here without knowing anything what they're about, but I guess you're pretty curious yourself like I am, huh?" The boy chattered on, almost incessantly and somewhat excitedly. His fingers fidgeted to his side as if dealing with the clamminess it was facing at the face of all that's happening right now. That something illegal was happening and he was close to being part of it. "'Pparently this guy really really hates anyone who uses a Persona. Cadet or Psyche-Terrorist? You're dead meat to him. Never heard of this guy until recently, but rumors say he started off at East Eden. That's probably why you're seeing some farmers here. They're real fans of this guy. Kinda helps when he claims God gave his powers or something. Can't blame them. Cadets been a little slow on the uptake near the border there. And Psyche-Terrorists be Psyche-Terrorists. I don't think I even need to say shit about the demons crossing the border too. Living in the boonies just suck, but what can ya do? It costs a shitload to live in the city."

As Albrecht searched, there appeared to be a group of farmer. They looked like they were too busy talking among themselves excitedly. From what he could hear from the utter cacophony of discussion, they spoke positively of the future, especially one under this notorious Heretic. Though out of the group, there appeared to be a farmer's boy who was idly waiting by as the elevated mass continued speaking. Though he appeared remarkably enthusiastic of what's coming. Even under the din of talking, he could notice Albrecht coming with a wide smile. "Hey, you ready to meet the big guy himself?"

"Ha! Yeah! It's always those damned dregs making life harder on all of us. We're just trying to make it past the day and that's already hard as it is. But with all this supernatural BS around making it even harder? No way, these supernaturals need to go. Life before the Divide might not be perfect, but it sure as hell better than it is now!" The friendly demeanor the farmer had turned dark and even vengeful. There was a glint of hatred, one that loathed and despised the very subject matter he broached upon. Based on the discussions happening around Albrecht, he would notice that they seemed to corroborate his words. "Yeah, he deals with them from time-to-time when he can from what I hear. But his big stunts just tend to be Purse Owner-using kind. Mostly leaves the big demons to the Cadets, I guess. I think that says a lot how he needs more people to give him a hand like how he's gonna ask now. Hell, his miracles makes them cringe and it hurts them from what I hear, like some kinda' exorcism! If that ain't savior-material, I sure as hell hope don't know what makes you one. Speakin' of which, I guess the same could be said of dem' Purse Owners, really boggles the mind, doesn't it?"

"Witches, right? Whatever it is, that stuff is unholy. Gotta stamp it out of this world, y'know? Those Purse Owners just haven't been good to this community for long. And I think mostly everyone here in this building agrees with that. If the Government can't even be trusted, then we have to trust in the big guy Heretic. And if fighting against these assholes makes me a Heretic, then by God as my witness, I will be the biggest one of them all!" The man puffed his chest with pride. He would soon notice that talking began to subside at the same time as the skull-masked man beginning to head towards the other end of the building to allow a group to enter. They were clearly different from the rest inside. "You're about to find out, buddy. The show's about to begin."

The hubbub would soon subside and fall silent as they began to notice several masked figures approaching them and the light fog that appeared to follow them. They all appeared to come from many walks of life, both female and male. Each and every one of them were foreboding with each every step they took as the mask they donned were of skull-like nature. The group were also guiding two other individuals in binds, one with a mask like a Psyche-Terrorist and another mask-less, yet bruised. They would be forced onto their knees before the audience.

In the midst of that group stood a single hooded figure with a skull mask of its own. Everyone in the area would notice this one individual was special unlike the rest, they seemed almost ghostly, spectral even. Its face was a mask of death with glowing red eyes adorning a tall and slender frame. Whatever this was, Albrecht would notice there wasn't anything demonic from it judging by his experiences dealing with demon-kind... it was human.

As the group finally reached a point that reached a respectful distance between them and the audience, the ghostly man stepped forward to address all inside the room in a distorted voice.

The crowd seemed to accept his presence positively, but there was a wonder in their eyes. Perhaps a kind of fear, a fear of the Lord as they believed themselves to be present before a savior. At least, some held that belief. Yet a remarkable number watched with expectation and curiosity, wanting to see what this "reputable" individual was like. Tonight, this was their opportunity to watch and see, to learn who this savior was. The hooded leader began to speak. "Your presence here helps this Cause, our fervent Cause, to protect all we hold dear in this flawed and ugly city trying to hold together its deluded veneer of faux perfection. I know many of you have family, friends, and loved ones you hold near your heart as you brave through the countless nights worrying and hoping the Psyche-Terrorists and demons will not claim their lives for their own. Some of you have lost them as have I, cursing our own continued weakness and our own foolishness to trust the corrupted Government's to protect us. For many years, many of us accepted this ugly truth, hoping to lose no one else until all fell apart in front of our very eyes. A Psyche-Terrorist once tried to extort my family and I, my naivety led me to trust a Cadet. How could I not? What good was I? All I could hope was that the Cadets did their job. But that trust was repaid in the blood of my wife and my child as these "protectors" failed to uphold their duty in their recklessness and their carelessness. One may ask what their own purpose in life is when they've lost everything..."

Heretic let the crowd murmur as they paused. The stark red eyes looked into the crowd, as if drinking in the sight and even feeling for the sentiments they share. There was a familiar pain on their faces, some had understanding as they knew of the fears they all shared, and perhaps most importantly of all, there was a kind of uncertainty. They continued to talk over the soft din, requesting their silence again to hear them. "I can tell you my Answer to that question, my reason to live from that day after I knelt before my family's graves. I stand to correct this incorrigible tyranny of the demons and those who use the power of a Persona. For far too long have we toiled under our yoke for this flawed and disgusting bureaucracy and those whose goals bring harm to us powerless citizens. This cannot stand. This cannot continue. Yet, the dire issue remains. What hope out there is left for us to scavenge? There is one such source. An angel with black wings has shown me the way, telling me the Queen failed in her mission to protect the weak and I should be the one to bring back true order to the World. Furthermore, he granted me the strength to banish these demons harbored in these Persona User's souls once and for all in our Lord's name."

Heretic gave a nod towards the followers behind them. Two moved from the group and roughly grasped the bound Psyche-Terrorist before throwing him before his judge, jury, and executioner all in one and in a hood. They would be the first to showcase the prime event of this night. The fear was palpable in the masked terrorist's eyes as the Heretic drew closer. But he was not without any curses of his own and would not go out without spewing hatefully at them.


Aside from bristling from the masked followers, Heretic showed no response as they simply continued to speak over the spiel. "This Terrorist was found in the dark streets of the Backlight extorting those who cannot defend themselves and killing those who bravely opposed him despite all odds. He is to be cleansed by the hands of the Lord. True, he will have a new beginning once the devil has been exorcised from his tainted soul. But I chose him for this very night as the start of a new beginning to show to you all that we have no reason to kowtow to their kind anymore, that we will and can fight back."

As soon as the words were spoken, a blinding light began to flash the entire building's interior as a strange sensation began to hang in the air. Heretic, with the visage of an executioner, put their fingers on the head of the Psyche-Terrorist and began a heavenly hymn with the voice of an angel. Albrecht could feel Lamina Sanctus begin to shake as if in chorus with the song, but the Forgotten too would begin to feel uncomfortable from the strange sensation that was beginning to visibly sap all thinking to only replace with renewed fervor once it ended. The Demon Weapon and its handler would realize this rebel, this Heretic was the genuine article. The voice that can exorcise and destroy all demonic filth rang through the building, causing the Psyche-Terrorist's supernatural garb to finally burn away before collapsing to the dirt once the hymn finished... A state that fell in line with what happened to the prison convoy.


"You've got to be kidding me. They can actually sing The Hymn?" Albrecht could hear over the communications hissing into his ear as more indescribable curses of another language could be heard. And it wasn't just the priest, all other agents were beginning to voice their shock and their disbelief. But the cantankerous old man quickly cut through it all. "Mission objectives have changed, people. We need to capture Heretic, we can't let him out of our hands. There's too many civilians here, follow them when it's all over."

The same two followers grabbed the motionless, yet alive, body of the Psyche-Terrorists and left the premises as the crowd voiced their approval cheering at the spectacle that already took place. Though another victim was chosen, renewing the fervor, from the maskless man who was brought before the Heretic as well. Unlike the other, this was one had his mouth bound by tape and wore an uniform that was discernible enough at this point under the darkness to note that he was an Outer Rim Cadet. "This one is made of the same cloth of the other, but under different masters. He too shall serve receive his just reward for the crimes perpetuated by his own greed and callousness."

As Albrecht chose not to act, another flash of light and the resonant hymn filed the space inside the building once more. And just like the Psyche-Terrorist, even the Outer Rim Cadet collapsed to the dirt face down and without any willful movement. Another pair of his followers roughly grabbed the limp string-less doll to the side. This was no simple cleansing, it was an entire purge. Yet, the crowd would find itself cheering and showed their stark approval. This was it. The one and true solution to their problems. No Psyche-Terrorist was going to be immune to this power, not even a government Cadet.

Heretic would allow them to chant and cheer for a moment, almost looking upon and examining their own work like a craftsman would. Many were in ridiculous fervor, enticed by the sweet euphony from the hymn and how the supernaturals that ruled over them were brought low.  A significant number were taken back and showed fear of the Lord. But it would slowly subside once Heretic raised a hand for their silence and attention. "Your enthusiasm is well appreciated. For without you, moving toward our goal would not be possible. Last time some of you may have seen me in East Eden, I was alone. Now, our strength grows little by little with each every resolute soul joining our Cause. We cannot do this alone. For as much as we grow, our adversaries have a potent power of their own. Yet, this does not make them invincible. Together we can show them to fear the Common Man and all they hold dear."


The assent was loud and clear, as if it already wasn't to begin with. Heretic motioned several of their lackeys to the forefront, beginning to disperse what appeared to be the many faces of death in all of its bone-like facades. Each attendee began to eagerly grab one for their own as they swarmed before the several skull-faced rebels. Yet as the attendees took to don a mask of their own and the remaining followers took to give out the masks, their savior and several others began to bow out of the place to the other end of the building, as if their purpose for the night was over.

The rasp from Albrecht's mic was clear. "Now's the time. Go after them, keep your distance."

As the skull-masked cultists exited the area, they would leave the premises quietly leaving the din of enthusiasm behind them. But quick on their heels were the agents of the Church, who definitely grew an intense interest in their gathering and in their Cause, not quite the one they were looking for. Albrecht wouldn't be able to see them in the dim light, not that they'd allow him to for the element of surprise was one they wished to retain even at his expense.

Heretic and their crew would stalk through the streets, making very careful attention to their surroundings as they went. Through the empty lots that dotted the area, they would soon enter the empty streets with several of its streetlights keeping lit throughout the evening. However, they would stop to a halt, with the masked crew still surrounding their leader. It looked like they were fiddling with something, exactly what, it wasn't clear from the distance and with the cloaked and masked followers surrounding them.

"What's he even doing? Hey, can any of you see what he's doing?" Albrecht would hear Gregory rasp through their communications in impatience. His question would be answered with another audible buzz carrying a whisper from another Agent. "It looks like he's fiddling with a phone. Can't see from here if they're texting or using some kind of app--Wait, they're moving. They're separating. Keep it easy, we don't want them to know something's following them."

"Let them scatter, focus on the target. Greg, Andy. Follow any two of his cultists. Brother Frost will focus on Heretic with the rest." Father Jorge's warning tone spoke through the headphone as everyone went to work.

As Heretic continued with their small remainder of disciples, eventually those too began to separate as well before giving a sign of respectful farewell too. Eventually, even the one and only leader would be on their own with just two. Their journey would come to a stop towards the branching off point of a tight crossroads. The moment the shadowy criminal stopped in their tracks, they called out into the space around them.

Heretic waited quietly waited for an answer with the bright scarlet eyes scanning around the area while also bringing out their phone. Yet, a quiet was the only answer the Church Executors and Albrecht provided. But when it was clear that there would be none, a discordant hiss of steam escaped from the seams of their mask as they finally spoke. "...Your silence tells me everything I need to know. Hide if you insist, but none can hide from the Lord's eyes... Brothers, Sisters. Deal with them."

A staccato of gunfire and scream could be heard at a distance behind Heretic and especially through Albrecht's communications. Flash of firearms going off could be seen popping in and out. But it wouldn't be the only spot for a fight to break out. Others would soon follow with a clash breaking out here and there. It was difficult to even hear through the cacophony resounding through the radio and even in the world. Man down! We're being shot from behind--ZZZ!--Where--ZZZ!--'ey all come--ZZZ!"


In the din of the chaos, the skull-faced trio began to leave, content to see every piece of their machinations realized on this very moment. They would all be busy fighting back against their many acolytes, buying enough time to make a necessary exit.

"Identify the targets and push them back! Keep it together! Greg, Andy! Sitrep! What's going on with the goons you were following?" The Knight could hear the priest's frantic urging. Even within the safety of his van, it was entirely mind-boggling how this could've happened. There were signs, there had to be. What was thought to be a mere cult turned out to be a ridiculously organized bunch of armed forces. But there was no answer, driving this entire thing even home as the sound of an angry and exasperated fist smashing against a desk could be heard. So was the sound of a shotgun being cocked. "Frost, the cover's blown! After them, now! We'll hold them back!"

As the battle raged on, the din of battle rang loudly in ears. Exchanges were made with each staccato and each slash. In Albrecht's side of conflict, one fell to his sword. The remainder regarded the Knight with irritation and indignation with each step. But as they began to swipe another attack, a bullet whizzed by. Failing to hit them, but it stopped them in their tracks. The skull-faced terrorist would find to see the smoking barrel of a shotgun aimed at him, with no one other than Father Jorge already cocking back his gun before taking aim again.

It took a while, but with enough elbow grease it was possible to bring the full might of the Church Knight onto both rebels. The Heretic follower wielding a cleaver was no match for the agents and would crumble to the ground. With the last one struck down, the gunfire would begin to lull into a silence. Jorge began to notice it and was just about to break into the comms before someone spoke through them. "Father, they're retreating! Do we pursue?"


As soon as they asked, the sirens began to scream distantly in the air. Of course, the law enforcement would be coming. In a surveillance state, how would they not send men in uniform packing down the streets after phone calls on gunshots? A sour look spread on the priest's face as he glared into the empty streets before he replied. "Negative. We'll be getting the cops involved in this. We've underestimated what they're capable of. We'll need to pull back now. All forces, head on back to the Church."

Jorge heaved a weary sigh and gave a look towards the Knight. One that was impressed with his work, but also grim that their mission to capture the notorious Heretic failed.


He moved to start grasping at the follower's masks. All it showed were faces, human faces. There was nothing that suggested anything demonic at all. But when the priest flipped the mask to its back, he scoffed at it and gave a low whistle. Inside appeared to be all sorts of technological hardware inside. "Well, I'll be. Not just training, but equipment too. Gonna be a first that there's a cult this organized and equipped. Thermal vision goggles and radio communications... Geez."
